DJ CLEA
During the last couple of years Clea has become a frequent feature behind the decks of Stockholm’s foremost night clubs. She’s well known for her accurate selection and it’s not for nothing she has been called ”queen of good vibes”. Clea can also be heard in her radio show ‘Up North’ on RBMA Radio, where she plays new music from the Swedish electronic scene every month.
Clea is a bit mysterious and we took the opportunity of asking some questions to get to know her better:
Where are you born and raised?
– In the most boring part of central Stockholm, Kungsholmen. It means King’s island, which is weird because the king has never lived there. It’s beautiful though, and everywhere you go it’s close to the water.
How come you started DJ:ing?
– When I was 15, I used to listen to the Swedish radio show P3 Dans every Saturday and write down the titles of the tracks, the old school way. Around the same time I started to go to nightclubs lying about my age, realizing I could probably do what all the bearded men (there were almost always men) behind the decks did. So I began practicing on my DJ-friend’s gear. It took some years before I had the nerve (and the legal age) to play at clubs, but when I finally did it was great. Today I work with Calle who started P3 Dans and I’m friends with Kornél who hosted the show. Full circle!
Do you have another occupation except for the music?
– During daytime I work with a startup called Moodelizer and in the weekends when I’m not DJ-ing I like reading. I have a degree in history so preferably books about the French revolution or the enlightenment. But also fiction, right now I’m reading a super strange sci-fi novel.
